We went to a provincial park for a Family Day event put on by the community. It certainly exceeded my expectations. They had ice skating, snow painting, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, tons of children's activities, and wagon rides. Now seeing that I have a equitation back round my goal was to get little Makenna onto a waggon ride right away :)
She definitely has horse love in her blood! She was smiling and looking around the entire ride. The waggon was led by two big Canadians, and took us on a 15 minute ride through a beautiful forest and past some frozen ponds. It was a really gorgeous ride, and both Makenna and I enjoyed ourselves thoroughly despite the chilly weather.
There was free coffee, hot chocolate, doughnuts, and hot dogs available also. And of course I enjoyed a cup of coco while standing beside an open fire.
Overall I was quite impressed by the event they put on, and surprised by the turn out.
I am really looking forward to making a tradition of going with Makenna every year for her "half birthday" and getting to celebrate Family Day at the same time. It definitely makes the holiday a bit more special for me at least.

Aw, your daughter is such a cutie! And I think it is *perfectly* acceptable to celebrate half birthdays (and with wagon rides no less!). I can only imagine how quickly the past 6 months have gone for you.. Jackson's past two and half months have gone by so quick! Look forward to seeing more posts from you =)
